LifeChangers Church
North Shore, Auckland

www.lifechangers.co.nz (still under construction)

Music: Contemporary, mostly Hillsong/Hillsong United
Speaking: Great teaching, inspirational, practical, encouraging and passionate
Childcare: Great, qualified childrens workers that love children and enjoy connecting with children with where they're at

Favourite thing: My favourite thing is the community of relationships and welcome atmosphere that is built into the culture of the church. The church isn't weird or intense, they're a group of people that love spending time with other people.

What I'd change: I'd change the location of our meeting. We need a building.

YES! You can wear Jeans! You could wear stubbies... but it could be cold...

What's the worship music like? Contemporary, pop/rock, worship, creative arts, dance and amazing vocalists
What's the speaking like?: culturally relevant with solid Bible base. "Liberal expression, conservative beliefs" not the other way round.
What's the childcare like: great, pumping kids church, creative and musical
What's your favorite thing?: The people are all friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming, not just the welcoming committee
What would you change?: more worship songs
Can I wear jeans: Only if you want to blend in (that's a yes)

Name of church: Church of the Good Shepherd

City: Massey, Auckland.

Website: http://www.auckanglican.org.nz/?sid=188&do=detail&type=parish&id=3383

What's the worship music like? Varies from service to service; Sunday evening is good and loud (for instance) whilst 11am is more Contemporary. Every time it's God we focus on and worship. Strong Charismatic orientation.

What's the speaking like? Strongly Biblical and relevant. A lot of variety too, having the strength of most of the teachers having a Bible College education.

What's the childcare like? Very good; JAM (Jesus and Me) rocks for the younger kids and the High School age ministry is superb.

What's your favorite thing? Jesus!

What would you change? Getting a little crowded; serves us right for reaching out and loving people!

Can I wear jeans? Do so all the time.

Yours
Jonathan

Cityside Baptist
Mt. Eden, Auckland

www.cityside.org.nz

Not your usual church. Thinking out loud allowed. Reflections of the seasons. Contemporary. Creative. Safe for those who struggle and question.

Childcare: Sho' nuff. Lots of little rug rats running around there. Childspace for them.

Music: If you want to call it that.

Fave thing: The pillows on the floor. It's like being in a family home listening to home truths. Community. A non performance based church.

Can I wear jeans: You can wear anything you like. Jeans, pajamas, Doc Martins, Birkenstocks, Batman suits (the kids do it all the time).

What's the worship music like?Contemporary- full band
What's the speaking like? Straight from the bible, yet culturally relevant
What's the childcare like? Organized, well trained
What's your favorite thing? the message... I don't feel like I'm just being preached to, I can find something practical to do with my faith every week.
What would you change? I'm not a huge "music person", so I would decrease the music time... I just want the message, and to be able to worship by music in the car on the way over.
Can I wear jeans? Yes!!

Name of church: All Saints, Hataitai

City: Wellington

Website: www.allsaints.org.nz
(we're upgrading the site soon, honest!)

What's the worship music like?: Depends on the service. Ranges from hymns to contemporary. Organ at 9am, contemporary/family songs at 10.30 and mostly hillsong united/uk/local contemporary stuff at 6pm.
I can't really say whether it's good...cos I'm a worship leader, and therefore a bit biased :) I have fun anyways.

What's the speaking like?:
Mornings: Our resident Vicar usually speaks, but not from behind a pulpit :)
Evenings: Local and visitor speakers, generally culturally relevant stuff, with strong bible focus.

What's the childcare like?: We have "Small Saints" in the hall for the 9 and 10am services, so the kids get some kid-focused fun God time. There's also a kids corner inside church with toys and books.

What's your favorite thing?: Probably the stuff that happens outside of services...not the the services themselves aren't fun. I like sticking around to chat and have supper after the evening service. Lifegroups and events where we all get to mix/mingle are also fun :)

What would you change? I think it would be nice to have a few more people. Not mega many...just enough to make it a bit fuller :)
Oh, and we need a new Vicar!

Can I wear jeans?: yup, most of us do. But you can dress up too, if you want. Whatever you're comfortable with (local law does frown upon nudity... :) )

Also, it looks like there are a couple of Austin, Texas church posts that got lost...unless TX is now a state of New Zealand. Awesome!! :)

Name of church: ARISE Church

City: Wellington

Website: www.arise.org.nz

What's the worship music like? Contemporary, reasonably loud

What's the speaking like? Culturally relevant, usually in response to the seasons we seem to be in, eg "Hope" series (in all ARISE churches across the country) after the February earthquakes.

What's the childcare like? Good, awesome programmes for 1-2, 3-4 and 5-12 year olds.

What's your favorite thing? It's young, it's big and it's loud.

What would you change? Create more unity across ministries (eg Youth, young adults/uni, young professionals)... there seems to be a lot of competition.

Can I wear jeans? Please, please, PLEASE wear jeans. I don't know anyone that doesn't
