Grace Chapel (PCA)
Lincoln, NE
http://www.gracepca.com/

What's the worship music like? Hymns sung in a contemporary, sort of bluegrass style. (Like Jars of Clay's "Redemption Songs".)

What's the speaking like? (Old school Bible, culturally relevant, by video etc?)
Our pastors tend to preach through books of the Bible, most recently Daniel and Luke. The preaching is very grace / gospel centered and is more academic/ theology-focused than many churches. Both teaching pastors are under age 40, though, so they draw in lots of young people. Frequent mention of the poor, oppressed, and marginalized.

What's the childcare like? I don't know a lot, other than it's available and there are lots of very young kids and not many youth group age kids.

What's your favorite thing? The worship is incredible, so that's my favorite. But the preaching is also very strong, and the people in the church body are very friendly .

What would you change? I wish there was a little more age diversity. It's a very young church - mostly college students and young adults / young families. It would be great if we had more older people and also more youth.

Can I wear jeans? Yeah, definitely.

Gandy Community Bible Church
Gandy

Worship is very traditional with a few praise chorus thrown in, were trying.

The speaking is very biblical, but culturally relevant in this area, the preacher is just a good old ranch hand, but since that is the audience he is speaking too, it works.

Childcare is a matter of Sunday School and then a very new Children's Church which is for preschool aged children

My favorite thing is how real the preacher is, willing to share his struggles to help the rest of the church, and he has so much heart for the lost.

I like the old school feel of the church but we could use a little more up to date music.

Of course you can wear jeans, the preacher does.

Name of church: Southwood Lutheran Church

City: Lincoln

Website: southwoodlutheran.org

General information: We have 3 services at 8:30, 9:45, and 11:00. The style of services is a blend of contemporary and traditional. We have great music and still have an adult choir that sings at least once a month.

What's the speaking like? The messages are biblically based and culturally relevant.

What's the childcare like? There is childcare offered at each service and there is also a cry room outside the sanctuary.

What's your favorite thing? There is a strong feeling of a family atmosphere and our youth programs are wonderful.

What would you change? Nothing

Can I wear jeans? Absolutely

The comments on Christ community Church by Robert Murphy are not completely accurate.
#4 is not true. It is fine to wear jeans to any service, and the "traditional service" is no different. It has contemporary/"relevant" music, too, just a mixture of newer and older music. How can it be said that the traditional service is not "relevant"???? Has the meaning of that word changed?

1. Glad Tidings Assembly of God

2. Central Omaha (72nd and Pacific-ish)

3. www.gtomaha.com

4. What is the worship music like? We worship as if we are standing before our Creator. It's prophetic, powerful, loud- we do a lot of Hillsong United, Israel, and Jesus Culture stuff.

5. What's the speaking like? Our pastors speak the truth, not the watered down version of the Bible, not the "acceptable version"- it's not sugar coated, but on the other hand, it's also not preaching the seven levels of hell down your throat. It's good and challenging. Trust me.

6. What's the childcare like? I'm in college, so I don't have kids, but we have a huge childrens ministry that seems pretty legit.

7. What's your favorite thing? We have the largest youth (Gravity) and young adult (The Underground) ministries in Omaha. Both are crazy powerful services. I'm a leader in The Underground and I can't imagine being part of a better ministry. I am absolutely in love with the people in my church.

What would you change? I wouldn't change this, but some people can be startled by the loud music and speaking in toungues and physical worship....I'm just sayin'.

Can I wear jeans? Of course you can. Come wearing a paper bag for all we care :)
