Contemporary worship (Hillsong, Hillsong United, Desperation Band, etc)
Speaking is culturally relevant, and also Sprit-led. Lots of scripture is used in each sermon to back up each point made.
Childcare is great. The caregivers really love being with the children, and the children have fun too. I will tell you that the senior high group rocks, and I would love to see any local teenager at least come for a visit. It's definitely not boring.

Favorite thing is that our church likes to keep things simple. The vision/mission/goal of our church is: "Come. Grow. Serve. Go." That's it.
It's a pretty church, kept clean 'n tidy. I also LOVE the people there. So genuine and loving. Not a bunch of snobs. haha. Oh, I also love that it is a debt free church, and will not use debt to grow it, add on to it, or make it 'cooler'. As money comes, so does the development/enhancements/upgrades. I love that the pastors teach straight from the Word, and don't just preach happy messages.

I might change a couple of things. The lighting in the sanctuary is good, not great (It is in the plans to change). I would also like to see a coffee shop added. Who doesn't like coffee?

Name: First Baptist Church
City: Hot Springs
Website: fbchsark.org
Worship Music:

Sundays: in limbo between contemp and hymns. contemp songs are played at a slower rate and are sung more "proper" to the exact notes written

Wednesday night Youth Service: newer songs, maybe not played on K-Love but most students will know them. songs are chosen w/ relevant messages and ways to incorporate the students

Speaking:

Sunday: don't let looks fool you. the pastor isn't pomo or a hipster or younger, but his messages are completely relevant and deal with todays issues

Wednesday night Youth Service: once again, the youth minister has completely relevant messages and a sense of humor. knows when to be completely serious and, to say it bluntly, "homie don't play" dealing w/ the bible

Childcare: childcare is improving. new children's minister is starting to rejuvenate the ministry and so far it is working. VBS was a hit.

Favorite thing: being a teenager, i love the youth activities and the atmosphere. there is a nice transition from silliness to seriousness.

What I would change: better wednesday activities for children and adults. sunday school [my class, 10th and 11th grade boys, at least] is a bit dull and when pointed out teachers try a bit too hard.

Can I wear jeans? of course. some of the more elderly people may look at you strange, but they're old. they can deal w/ it. haha

What's the worship music like? Contemporary, led by a non-metro guy and his wife with a small band. Its pretty chill, we're a new (small) church so it'd be weird to really rock it out in such an intimate setting. I'm a fan.

What's the speaking like? Culturally relevant speaking, scripture based.

What's the childcare like?
We honestly don't have many kids so childcare hasn't been a huge need yet. Sometimes kids come with their parents to worship for all or part, otherwise they go do their thing in a room nearby.

What's your favorite thing?
The intentionality (is that a word?). We focus on equipping members to live the love of Christ.

Can I wear jeans?
Yes please. Wear jeans, shorts, a skirt, whatever.

Fellowship Bible Church
Searcy
www.fellowshipsearcy.org

Fellowship Bible Church is a non-denominational group of Christ followers. Our mission statement is "Reach Seekers. Build Believers. Release Leaders." Any visitor is welcome and encouraged to take part in our Discovery Class to learn more about our church. The website is a great place to get a feel for us at a glance.

Worship is a wonderful blend of contemporary worship with a few traditional hymns thrown in every now and then. The worship band is full of very talented people and people that have a desire to worship God through the talents that they have been blessed with.

We are currently in a fund raising effort to purchase some land before building. Our church follows a financial principle of not being in debt if necessary. Therefore, we are paying off the land before building.

It's an exciting time at Fellowship Bible Church - Searcy because we have just hired a brand new directional leader/senior pastor. Our previous pastor was an excellent teacher and leader. He felt God calling him to a more urban environment (Searcy is a small town of about 20,000) where he could take part in a large urban ministry. All were sad to see him go, but encouraged to know that God was grooming his successor.

Even though Searcy is a predominately Church of Christ town (Searcy is home of Harding University, a private, Church of Christ college), we have a large body of college students as well of a mix of all other ages. Some of the people you would find at Fellowship are teachers, doctors, nurses, IT professionals, aircraft mechanics, salesmen, ministers (duh, right), factory workers, railroad workers, accountants, housekeepers, one parent families, school counselors, marriage and family therapists, recovering addicts, and so on. The above only represented a small portion of the people that attend Fellowship. They are actually people that I have been involved in Community Groups with. The most important thing is that we all love God and, even though it's hard at times (just being honest, for myself anyway) love each other as we love ourselves.

We are heavy into service and community and encourage everyone to be involved in a Community Group, which is where ministry really takes place. This is a more intimate and authentic setting where we can meet with each other outside of the church and build each other up.

We have a wonderful children's ministry. Our volunteers are some of the best around and usually (87% of the time) have children involved in the church. On Sunday mornings, children from newborn to 6th grade take part in our children's Sunday School classes. The youth age kids (7th thru 12th grade) take part in SNL, Sunday Night Lights, as part of The House. During the summer, the kids are extremely busy being involved with outreach and mission projects as well as the fun theme park/float/camping trips that occur in most churches.

Our church is also heavily focused on missions. Some of the missions we sponsor range from medical missions in Africa to English classes in Eastern Europe to church building missions in Mexico. Not only missions afar, but mission work at home through various camps and community outreach programs such as Friends for Life and the Good Samaritan House.

Fellowship Bible Church doesn't have a Sunday evening or Wednesday evening service. That's what community groups are for. Also, we don't have adult Sunday School. This may be an issue for some, but this is also a great reason to be involved in a Community Group.

During the summer we only have one service but during the school year, we split it up in two; 9 am and 10:30 am. Come on down and give us a try. Fellowship is not interested in "stealing" members from other churches. If you have a home church and are being fed spiritually there, STAY THERE. We are more concerned with finding those that don't have a home and those that are hungry spiritually.

And the answer to the MOST important question: Yes. You can wear jeans!

Haha... no website unless I make one.
We sing hymns and/or camp meeting songs exclusively, although we do sneak in "Thank You, Lord" once in a while. I don't think that one counts as a hymn.
Our pastor, who happens to be my Dad, full disclosure here, tells it like it is. He preaches the Bible without apology.
We don't have formal childcare, however, PLENTY of us would love to entertain your baby or toddler during church. (We have lots of Grandmas with candy.)
My favorite thing about my church is that we are very close to each other. It's a small congregation, and we get to know one another. Plus, we get good Bible teaching and lots of old-fashioned Baptist fellowship (Baptist fellowship=eating).
What I would change? I would really love it if more people in our church volunteered to help with church activities, like Sunday School. I'm not complaining, though. I know God gets the right people in the right places.
Yes, you can wear jeans. One of our elderly members used to wear denim overalls to church regularly. You can also dress up, if you like. You can pretty much wear whatever you like, and as long as it's not obscene or immodest, no one will mind.
Sunday School starts at 9:45, and the worship service is at 11 am.

Contemporary/AWESOME worship music

Childcare up to age... 12 maybe?

Favorite thing is the worship and the atmosphere. It's fairly small and everyone's very friendly

You can definitely wear jeans

Worship is very southern, very old-fashioned. Hymns.

Preaching is very practical and relational.

Childcare is personal and overstaffed.

I love our old people. They absolutely love the younger people and will do anything to help them and see them grow.

What would you change? There's a bit of a theological discrepency about the place of women in ministry.

Can I wear jeans? Sure! Some people do, some don't. The preacher wears a suit, my neighbor wears his farm clothes.

What's the worship music like?: Contemporary, live band, can be a bit loud.
What's the speaking like?: Simple point by point, verse by verse, life application sermons. (e.g. current series is called Fun Busters. Dealing with stress, job, family, etc.)
What's the childcare like?: Not sure. Goes though 5th grade.
What's your favorite thing?: The rapid growth. Church was started in January '08 and is currently running 300-400 in Sunday morning service. Their are ADULT baptisms nearly every week.
What would you change?: More meaty sermons. They're too simple for me, but since the church is made up of about 70% new Christians/unchurched/Christian who haven't to church since childhood it's appropriate.
Can I wear jeans?: Yes, the pastor wears jeans and a untucked striped shirt.

There are 5 services. Two on Saturday night (5,6:30) that are postmodernish and 3 on Sunday (8,9:30,11). The Sunday services become more contemporary the later the times.

The speaking is highly culturally relevant using lost of multimedia formats.

Childcare is available for all ages - come early. People get turned away all the time.

It's a mega-ish church, you can get lost in the crowd if you don't make an effor to get connected yourself. You don't know if you are to welcome the person next to you or they should welcome you --- so take the initiative!
