Name of church: Abundant Grace Church of Boston, associated with New Frontiers International, leaning toward the Fundamentalist/Charismatic type.
City: Boston, Massachusetts
Website: www.abundantgraceboston.org/
What's the worship music like? (Contemporary, hymns, long, fast, loud etc?) Contemporary choruses, an occasional hymn, all on overhead projector, lead by a earnest, diverse and humble band.
What's the speaking like? This is Christianity 101. Dave Hill (in the neighborhood of 50) speaks personal, simple, messages of what grace is, what sin is, and what Jesus did. No fluff. No big theological words. Just practical, simple faith.
What's the childcare like? Only during the speaking, there is nursery for babies up to age 2, a 3-4 year old class, and a 5-8 year old class. Nine and up get to sit with their parents. Teachers are rotated, so they teach one month at a time. It's not called Sunday School, it's "Bible Fun Class"!
What's your favorite thing? This is an urban church, so it is WAY diverse, with immigrants from all over the world attending. This is good for everybody. Also, there is much support for "quiver-full" type families and homeschooling. Mid-week home groups, summer picnics, and outreaches allow for a lot of fellowship. Also, there is not so many programs that families are over-committed.
What would you change? Don't know, I'll get back to you.
Can I wear jeans? ABSOLUTELY! This is Abundant GRACE!

What's the worship music like?: Contemporary. They do a lot of Hillsong, Vineyard, Travis Cottrell and Chris Tomlin stuff.
What's the speaking like?: Awesome, Bible-based preaching, usually a series/topical, not really expository, very energetic
What's the childcare like?: Great, kids don't get lost...easily. No, but really, the nursery staff and children's church staff is great. My best friend teaches the 3-5 year olds.
What's your favorite thing?: I'd say the variety of Sunday school/"Growth Group" topics and the preaching is fantastic.
What would you change?: Lemme get back to you on it.
Can I wear jeans?: Yep. Go for it.

What's your favorite thing?:
Our small groups really provide a predictable environment where authentic community with God and one another can occur.
What would you change?: my Jeans each week.
Can I wear jeans?: Why not? the pastor does

What's the worship music like? A mix of hymns, some contemporary stuff, and old-school choruses
What's the speaking like? Able to engage just about anybody: homeless folk, PhD students, and grandmas - and everything in between. Clear, honest, about the essentials.

Name of church
City: Boston
Website: www.citylifeboston.org
What's the worship music like? usually contemporary with one or two modernized hymns thrown in the mix
What's the speaking like? Big emphasis on expository preaching, long sermons (45+ min) with some cultural relevance
What's the childcare like? Nursery during entire service for babies; program offered for toddlers through middle school (by age group) during sermon
What's your favorite thing? community groups (by neighborhood) offer good chance to get to know people through meals, study, prayer, and community service; AND the church's cultural diversity
What would you change? more emphasis on pastoral care, and a more shared leadership structure that places less emphasis on the pastor as a personality and his preaching
Can I wear jeans? Yes, about half the congregation will be in slacks/skirts, and the rest dressed in jeans

Be the first to list your church. Simply post a comment with the following short info:

Name of church: Cape Cod Baptist Church

City: Falmouth

Website: Capecodchurch.com

What's the worship music like? (Contemporary, hymns, long, fast, loud etc?):Contemporary. Varies in length.

What's the speaking like? (Old school Bible, culturally relevant, by video etc?): Definitely culturally relevant. Very clear speaking. No 'fire and brimstone' speak.

What's the childcare like?: Childcare is great. There are two different nurseries, one for newborns and infants and one for toddlers as well as Treasure Island, the Sunday School classes for kids kindergarten to sixth grade (separated into three different groups).

Our church has a youth group, Detour, every Thursday night for students in 7th grade to 12th grade. On Sundays, two of the three services have a bible study for Detour students led during the service.

What's your favorite thing?: I love the family atmosphere that the church has. The church is my second home, and the congregation my second family.

What would you change?: The only thing I can think of would be parking, but we are moving to a new building pretty soon so that won't be an issue.

Can I wear jeans? Absolutely. =-)

Name of church: Cornerstone Church of Boston
City: Cambridge, MA (morning service, mostly young adults). Boston, MA (afternoon service, mostly college kids)
Website: http://www.cornerstoneboston.org/
What's the worship music like? I have yet to hear a service without anything from Hillsong. Contemporary, almost rock band like quality. What's the speaking like? Biblically based but culturally relevant.
What's the childcare like? Only in the morning service in their Cambridge location. Small, but well staffed with volunteers (mainly college kids and young adults).
What's your favorite thing? The worship music quality and the pastor is amazing. I've definitely been blessed going there. Plus, me being a college kid, the fact that I get to worship with hundreds of other college students is great.
What would you change? The afternoon worship can be a little large and the amount of college kids (hundreds and hundreds) can make it a little intimidating.
Can I wear jeans? Hecks yea!
