What's the worship music like? It's contemporary AND loud which makes it good.
What's the speaking like? Although our pastor is kinda "old school" himself, what he preaches is relevant for today. He recently did a whole series on Why? answering a lot of why questions.
What's the childcare like? We have an awesome children's ministry on Sunday mornings and a nursery, too.
What's your favorite thing? The openness of our worship and the sincerity of our fellowship. I know, that sounds cheesy but it is true!
What would you change? Nothing, really, except I'd like to have a church building with a stained glass window over the platform and a platform big enough for more instruments and singers.
Can I wear jeans? Please wear jeans. And a T-shirt, too.

The music is what folks call blended, but our worship leader (the pastor's wife) looks at lyrical content more than musical.
The speaking is expository preaching, verse by verse.
Childcare is nursery for all up to two years old and Children's Church on Sunday mornings for up to kindergarten.
My favorite thing is that we get fed the Word; solid meat, if you know what I mean.
I would change the length of the service. One hour just doesn't seem like enough sometimes (said without trying to sound super-spiritual).
Sure, you can wear jeans! I can't, because I'm on staff. But you sure can!

What's the worship music like? At the 10:30 service we provide a blend that is mostly contemporary with a bit of traditional hymns interwoven. Choir (no robes) with a praise band balance the service. You can worship however you feel comfortable.
What's the speaking like? The Word of God is preached every Sunday and is relevant in all situations. Emphasis on missions.
What's the childcare like? We have a great kids program taught by people who love what they do.
What's your favorite thing? My husband teaches a young marrieds class and we just love working with that age group.
What would you change? Incorporate more drama, maybe even an eagle into the service. I think that may make some of our congregation a little uneasy though.
Can I wear jeans? Yes, Wear whatever you like, just come dressed please.

Very Contemporary, though also fond of new versions of old hymns
Culturally relevant and in depth
Childcare is fun and volunteer led
They are always trying to build community
I wish they had a morning service. (They only meet Sunday nights because they don't have their own building)
The pastor wears jeans.

Multiple Services: Ranging from very traditional to somewhat contemporary
Speaking: Relevant w/o being hip
Childcare: Nice w/ mixture of volunteers and paid folks
Favorite thing: It's home. ;)
Change: The church should get out into the community more.
Jeans are cool, but they better not have holes. ;)

What's the worship music like?
Contemporary, somewhere between tomlin curious and goatee guy (see http://tinyurl.com/6zcy5q )

What's the speaking like?
Culturally relevant. The preacher once rode in on a 4-wheeler. (No, we're not rednecks. Well, not all of us.) He speaks with a lot of passion.

What's the childcare like?
Sundays - Nursery - 6th grade
Wednesdays - Nursery, Awanas, and Youth

What's your favorite thing?
The people in my small group.
Our vision.

What would you change?
Hard to say. Wish people were more passionate about social justice, but I'm kind of on the far edge of that realm. I think we have a need for more 'artists'.

Can I wear jeans?
Come as you are. I've seen shorts and flip flops.

Name of church: First Baptist Church

City: Oxford

Website: www.gotofirst.org

What's the worship music like? (Contemporary, hymns, long, fast, loud etc?): Our music minister is leaving, so I can only assume the new guy will be like him. We have three services: The second is "contemporary" with a 20-something metro leader who sings kind of folksy, passionate music. The other two combine contemporayr and hyms -- more hymn-based for the early service where the old folks are and vice versa for the late service.

What's the speaking like? (Old school Bible, culturally relevant, by video etc?) Awesome -- definitely the biggest draw. The pastor is a young guy, in his 30s, and is a brilliant speaker! Culturally relevant, grounded in scripture.

What's the childcare like? Excellent. Nursery and a children's church that coincides with the third service. Sunday School is during the second and third service, and the youth program is outstanding.

What's your favorite thing? The pastor is on fire and is a genuine Christian, in a city where faith is given mostly lip service.

What would you change? I wish it were more socially acceptable to worship more energetically.

Can I wear jeans? If you must. Jeans are more common in the younger crowd, but this is a deep south Southern Baptist Church. The old men wear coats and ties, and the younger ones vary anywhere from coat and tie to collared shirt and slacks, but not much more casual than that. I wear a tie and/or coat depending on the weather; when it is hot just a button-down shirt.

Agricola Baptist Church

Agricola, MS Okay Agricola is more like a community than a city, but we're south of Lucedale

http://agricolasbc.com/

What's the worship music like?
a.m. choruses and hymns, choir sings
p.m. worship band with drums, guitars, saxophone, and singers

What's the speaking like?
Dr. T preaches God's word as it relates to the world we live in now.

What's the childcare like?
EXCELLENT- that's what attracted us in the first place. Every month we have a KidStuf production that is wonderful.

What's your favorite thing?
It's like a family. Some of the people I'm glad to have in my family. Some are..., well, they're family and I have to keep them.
What would you change?
The small church, rural mindset that seems to have trapped some of the members. They are not the majority, but they do have a voice. But they are family and I love them, too.

Can I wear jeans?
Yes, you can. But some members would rather not see them on ladies in the choir loft on Sunday morning, but I don't let that stop me if that's what I need to wear.
