Name of church: Lenexa Christian Center
City: Lenexa
Website: lenexachristian.org
What's the worship music like? there is a choir, a very good and unique choir; saturday nights have a metrosexual band.
What's the speaking like?: Sunday and Wednesday speaking with Pastor Purkey is hard hitting, he isn't afraid to lay down the gospel and he doesn't care if he offends you to the point of leaving. His son preaches Saturday nights. The two are very anointed and, honestly, though their sermons aren't always short, they are powered by the Holy Spirit.
What's the childcare like? Nursery has many excellent rooms with great teachers and crafts. The 1st - 6th grade are under the anointed leadership though one of the pastors is edging on insanity (we love you Gilbert but he scares new people by giving them a wooden coin called a 'round tuit, saying that now they've gotten a 'round tuit they should start working in children's minsitry!)
What's your favorite thing? I will always love the anointing that is on the leaders at the church. I have never heard someone compormise the word of God. We also have great food. yum yum. we like to eat.
What would you change? As a younger person, I would do away with the choir, no matter how wonderful they are (I really do love you choir) but I just can't get into that kind of worship. Some people really can, though. The choir goes up a key and they stand up, clapping with more exuberance than ever before. I commend their unabashed affection for both Jesus and gospel music.
Can I wear jeans? If you're young, jeans will always work. Be warned about Sunday, people like to wear spiffy suits and clothes that make them look like missionaries to exotic places. very exotic places. Nice jeans are good.

What's the speaking like? Relevant to everyday life

What's the childcare like? It's great! Childcare for babies & toddlers; children's church for 4 yrs. - 4th grade.

What's your favorite thing? The people are very kind and welcoming, and it's easy to get involved.

What would you change? I would love to have a ministry for people my age (20's - early 30's).

Can I wear jeans? Absolutely! You might be more comfortable wearing them to contemporary service than traditional.
