Name of church: Calvary Chapel Budapest - Golgota

City: Budapest

Website: http://www.golgotabudapest.hu/index.php?lang=en

What's the worship music like? (Contemporary, hymns, long, fast, loud etc?)Contemporary - mostly in Hungarian with an occasional chorus in English.

What's the speaking like? (Old school Bible, culturally relevant, by video etc?) They preach through the Bible, Old Testament on Wednesdays, New Testament on Sundays and a mini-concert with a more evangelistic, youth (in Hungary 30 and under) targeted message on Sunday nights. Pastor Phil includes a lot of humor in his sermons but they are always right on target. He explains the text and offers application. Preaching is translated from the front (Hungarian to English or English to Hungarian depending on who is preaching). Sunday night is Hungarian only with no translation.

What's the childcare like? There are children's programs for the Hungarian speaking kids but only one group for all ages of English speaking kids. I really don't know that much about them.

What's your favorite thing? I love the music but my favorite thing is the passion and grace of the church staff and their desire to see people learn to love God and let Him live in and through them. The fact that you can take coffee and pastries from the bufe into the service is also nice. :) There are also lots of small groups where you can get involved and get to know other people better, including a group for English speakers.

What would you change? Better air circulation in the summer. :) It gets hot in there.

Can I wear jeans? Absolutely!!!
