Name of church: Crossroads Church of Denver

City: Arvada

Website: http://www.crossroadsdenver.org

What's the worship music like? Contemporary. 99% of the time there is a well-rehearsed band, occasionally we'll sing the old hymns, worship lasts about 30 minutes. It's sincere, not showy. Don't be surprised to find yourself dancing a little. It's not a big arm-waving place, though.

What's the speaking like? Straight from the Bible. For example, right now we are going through Luke, verse by verse---but since the Bible is living, it can't help but be relevant for all time. Somehow, it's Old School AND culturally relevant. The pastors are engaging, thought-provoking, and knowledgeable teachers. I always leave feeling challenged.

What's the childcare like? Available from birth up to high school ages. Teachers are dedicated, must apply for the positions, and go through background checks. There is a nursing mom's room for babies and toddlers up to the age of two. The church also owns a summer camp near Bailey.

What's your favorite thing? It's alive. I can't wait to go back every week. There are ministries/small groups for everyone.

What would you change? I wish they had a preschool.

Can I wear jeans? Yes.

What's the worship music like?: Mostly contemporary including contemporary hymns. The worship leaders/pastors write a ton of their own music (eg.Desperation Band, Jared Anderson).
What's the speaking like? Sweet video intros, very sound Biblical teaching and usually cuturally relevant.
What's the childcare like? Huge children's ministry. Your kids will be well cared for.
What's your favorite thing? The worship is amazing.
What would you change? I wish the small groups were actually small. In such a large church (approx 12,000) some of the small groups have 40+ people in them. Also, it is hard to get involoved. You have to be very intentional.
Can I wear jeans? Yup

Name of church TNL (The Next Level)
City: Denver area
Website: tnl.org
What's the worship music like? (Contemporary, hymns, long, fast, loud etc?): Loud, proud, David Crowder style!
What's the speaking like? (Old school Bible, culturally relevant, by video etc?): Contemporary application of the Word to our lives.
What's the childcare like? AWESOME, from baby to middle school, and high schoolers should be able to take care of themselves!
What's your favorite thing? Worship and teaching and community and Jesus and...
What would you change? We meet on Tuesday nights which works well for my family. I don't like Sunday church, but if TNL did Sundays, I would like it. SO, perhaps what I would change is that it fit the traditionalists who feel they HAVE to go on Sunday.
Can I wear jeans? COME AS YOU ARE! YOU ARE ACCEPTED JUST AS YOU ARE, is said each week and that includes dress style.

Name: Pinecrest Community Church
City: Parker/Elizabeth

What's the worship music like? Contemporary, medium loud-ish, electrified, rock-band style setup
What's the speaking like? Good balance of topical and exegetical, always relevant
What's the childcare like? Safe, friendly, clean, all the things you look for when you have a toddler. I've heard the youth program and children's programs are great as well, just haven't experienced those.
What's your favorite thing? The worship eagle (kidding). Probably the authenticity and transparency of the staff and community. And the muffins.
What would you change? The facilities (generic pre-fab steel building halfway to Kansas - no offense intended to Kansas). However, the humble facilities do help to reinforce priorities (people first).
Can I wear jeans? Yes. And shirts and shoes are also highly recommended for full service.

Name of Church: West Side Bible Church

City: Rocky Ford

The worship music is a great balance of contemporary praise and updated hymns and lasts close to 30 minutes.

The speaking includes Bible truths, interesting stories, and practical, relevant application. Our pastor meets us where we're at with his sermons and there is always a memorable application.

Our church is filled with children, so childcare is an emphasis. Sunday School for ages 2 and up, nursery for under 2. Nursery available for children under 4 during worhsip service. Children 4 and up have activity folders updated weekly to satisfy them during the quiet parts of the service.

One of my favorite parts of my church is the opportunity for connection. We have people of all ages and from all seasons of life. West Side Bible has a very relevant and energetic youth program, Biblically sound and active children's program, Men's and Women's Bible Studies and activities, marriage studies, parenting studies, and more!

Yes, you can wear jeans.

Zyxter Church
Parker, CO

What's the worship music like? Contemporary music.

What's the speaking like?
Practical messages from the greatest communicators in the Christian faith. Some weeks are by video, others are led by Pastor Joe Wood, known for being myspace.com's 'pastor' (http://myspace.com/afterlifetv)

What's the childcare like?
Infant Child Care

What's your favorite thing?
How real everyone is. Doesn't matter who you are, what you have done, or even what you might be currently doing...you are welcome here!

What would you change?
Nothing...well, we'd love to ADD one thing or maybe better said, there is one thing missing and that is YOU!

Can I wear jeans?
YES. We don't care what you wear or we care is that you wear something. Don't believe us? Put us to the test. We believe churches have for to long put too much emphasis on the outside and the reality is God cares about the inside. Come as you are. Don't dress any different than you normally would dress.

Name: Pulpit Rock Church

City: Colorado Springs

Website: http://www.pulpitrock.com/

Worship music: Mix of contemporary music and hymns, original compositions by the awesome worship pastor (who rocks my face off, in spite of his lack of metrosexuality), can get more contemporary/loud depending on which service you attend, the earliest one being the more traditional, the later ones being more informal.

Speaking: Pretty awesome, culturally relevant (the pastor has a goatee), analysis/studies on applying "old school Bible" topics and verses to life currently often via real-life stories and experiences of the speaker, focus on community and reaching out to others. They have a good focus on community, and a really nice, close-feeling, make-yourself-at-home kind of community while still being a decent-sized modern sort of church.

Childcare: Really great, organised, fun, educational, well-staffed childcare split up by age groups. And they even tag the kids like whales, too, so it's all good.

Favourite thing: It's the only church in my limited church experience that I have never /once/ fallen asleep in, no matter how tired I was it always captures my attention and doesn't send me on a straight path to the hell for those who nod off one too many times during the sermon (there is one of those, right?)

What I'd change: I'd love it if the worship service was even louder and more contemporary and rock and hip, but I'm all about the concert experience.

Can I wear jeans? Yes, you can, Jon. And not only you, but whoever else likes jeans as well! Jeans or skirts, shorts or suits, even pajamas if you overslept. The community's just happy to see you made it.
(oh, and you can drink coffee too. any kind you want. promise.)

Name of church: Discovery Christian Church

City: Colorado Springs

Website: www.dccsprings.com

What's the worship music like? Contemporary, loud (Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Matt Redman, etc.)

What's the speaking like? Culturally relevant; mostly expository (verse by verse) with occasional topical sermons

What's the childcare like? We have childcare available for all ages, and the kids have a great time. Children account for about a third of our congregation. Actually, our building used to be occupied by Pump It Up, an inflatable kids' party zone, so our children's area is very colorful and filled with air hockey and other games, as well as individual classrooms.

What's your favorite thing? Pastor Greg's teaching is biblical and relevant.

What would you change? Since we have a younger congregation, we're working on leveraging technology, such as social media, to a greater extent. We're also working on launching small groups to strengthen biblical community.

Can I wear jeans? Absolutely! Almost everyone, including our pastor, wears jeans. When I'm in the mood to dress up a little, I don't feel out of place, either. Come as you are!
